Air Vanuatu Announces New Schedule

30 March 2015

Air Vanuatu has released a temporarily revised schedule for travel to Vanuatu from 17 April to 25 June whilst the country rebuilds after Cyclone Pam.

"Some of our larger hotels in Port Vila are currently closed for repairs, significantly reducing the number of hotel rooms available," Chief Executive Officer Joseph Laloyer said.

"As such, the demand for flights to Port Vila has also reduced and we have adjusted our schedule accordingly."

Mr. Laloyer said Air Vanuatu would operate four services a week from Sydney to Port Vila and two flights a week from Brisbane to Santo and Port Vila from 17 April until 25 June 2015. Due to softer demand, the Melbourne-Port Vila service will be suspended from 02 April 2015 until 25 June 2015.

"Espiritu Santo was largely unaffected by Cyclone Pam and all hotels and resorts are operating normally. We will continue with our weekly Brisbane-Santo services and daily connections from Port Vila to Santo as well."

Mr. Laloyer said he was confident Air Vanuatu would return to normal scheduling from June as Port Vila's hotels re-open for business.

"We are grateful for the support of our regional airline partners, including Fiji Airways, Qantas, and Air New Zealand during these difficult times. It is more important now than ever that passengers choose the national carrier of Vanuatu as we rebuild as a nation."
